Manually adding products to email

I wanted to manually select 8 items and insert them into an email. First I had to use a filter and select exact match on the 8 products. I matched by name. After achieving my goal of creating the Product Set, I was unable to finish my project because there was no way to inject my manually selected items into the email. I could get 6 injected but not 8 because of antiquated restrictions. There used to be a way to do this. Now there is not. This platform just keeps degrading.
