Grouping of notifications for same requests

The amount of notifications/emails from the system is a bit overwhelming. I understand that we can turn them off completely but it would also be helpful if, at least on the app side, notifications were rolled up to whatever is the most recent. As an example, I currently have over 130 notifications sitting on my list but there are multiple notifications lumped together and spread out for the exact same task. It would be helpful if the most recent notifications would appear on the list in order with an expandable view of related notifications that were sent previously by the system. That way, I could mark all related notifications as read and clear them out together once I've addressed a task instead of having to click through my list 1 by 1 and subsequently be taken back to a task that I've already actioned/responded to when I viewed the initial notification.
