Option to Preventing Users from Adding More to Cart Than Available for Discontinued Items

We would like to implement a restriction to prevent users from adding more items to their cart than the available stock for discontinued items. Specifically, when an item is discontinued, users should not be able to add more units than are available in the AFS (Available for Sale) quantity.

    Thank you for submitting this request! We have added this item to our backlog for future consideration and prioritization.

    Currently we provide the ability to add to cart in order to support a wide variety of use cases, and this can be customized at the project level with a partner if desired.

    Out of the box we do provide clear messaging that quantity in the cart is greater than the amount available while also removing the ability to 'checkout' (however we do still provide ability to save order and submit for quote.

    In the below example there is only 1 unit of this product left therefore the messaging will appear, and once the quantity has been adjusted the messaging will be removed and Checkout will also be a valid option:
